Raised Boardwalk
A
boardwalk - what a great idea! We have been contemplating this
move since 2001 and are still in the process of combining many
different grants and programs to make it a reality. Two programs
we have been working with include
the Civil Engineering and
Carpentry programs at Bates Technical College. We have also been
working with the City of Tacoma, Metro Parks, and WDFW's Urban
Wildlife Biologist program.
When
this project is completed, all of the trails in the Puget
Gardens area of the Gulch will have a raised boardwalk in order
to further protect the wetlands, while providing equal access
for all to these areas. The Bates students are consulting with
Dordahl & Associates and McGranahan's Architects in order to
make this dream come true.
