Salmon Habitat and Population Restoration

Place Limbs on Hillside

As part of our dedication to erosion and sediment control, PCRS collects non-invasive tree limbs and places them amongst the native vegetation on the hillsides after first eradicating any invasive plants. The limbs are laid between the native plants to slow the run-off water on its way down the hillside, giving it time to soak into the soil and reincorporate into the substrate.

These tree limbs collect other leaves and twigs and help to retain the wood chips that we also place between the plants for the same reasons.

Further benefits of placing limbs on the hillside include the added protection of the soil from the sun and another layer where wildlife can forage and  hide.
