Erosion and Sediment Control
PCRS continuously works toward controlling erosion on the
hillsides and
sediment in the creek. Erosion and sedimentation
control entails a number of different aspects that include:
placing gravel on the main trail; placing limbs and wood chips
on the hillside; planting native trees and shrubs along the
stream; cutting down the side trails; and checking the sanitary
and storm conveyance lines for leaks.
Gravel on the main trail slows the flow of run-off water, which
cuts down on erosion and ultimately cuts down on the sediment
that is carried into the stream. By planting native trees and
shrubs along the stream, we help hold the soil in place so it
doesn't deposit into the stream.
