Pie Property Acquisition

 

The PIE Property is located just north of the Puget Gardens area, between the railroad and the private landowner's garage. Interest in this area as a channel pond for fish and wildlife was initiated in 2000.

 

Since then, Tacoma Public Utilities (TPU) has given the property to the City of Tacoma to be maintained as an open space area, managed by the Department of Community and Economic Development.

 

PCRS is working with the City in an effort to develop an off-channel rearing pond for Coho and other wildlife on the Pie property. We hope to begin pond creation here in 2007.
