We would
like to implement a monitoring program that will show us a
complete picture of which insects are present in the
infrastructure throughout the watershed. We would study them
using soil sampling techniques, insect nets, and shaker
collectors. The results will allow us to ensure that our
restoration efforts are producing the desired effects. Insect
nets catch flying insects so we can survey the types that are
present in the area. Shaker collectors have large funnels and
are placed under trees and shrubs. The trees and shrubs are
given a little shake so the insects drop adn can be analyzed and
their species properly recorded.
