In order
to place bat boxes in the best possible places to attract and
accommodate the specific bats that should inhabit the Puget
Creek Watershed, we will use a bat frequency device. This device
registers the frequency of pitch from the sonar that bats send
out. Each species of bat has a speciric pitch or tone level; the
device reads the sounds to determine which species are present.
Using this equipment, we will be able to detect the types of
bats that utilize the area and determine how often they are
present.
