Eelgrass Restoration
PCRS has
entered into a partnership with the University of Puget Sound
and the Pierce Conservation District in developing an eelgrass
restoration test project.
This should begin in early 2008 and
involves excavating old sediment and replacing it with clean
fill in an area contaminated with woody debris leftover from an
old lumber mill.
We also
hope to install bare-root or plugs in certain areas and monitor
them in comparison to areas set aside for natural regeneration
and areas that are left alone.
