Work with Disabled Individuals

With the help of Mike Corsini of Tacoma Neighborhood Networks
Center (TNNC), PCRS* has succeeded in obtaining grants
specifically for the purpose of facilitating involvement of the
community's disabled, minority, and low-income individuals in
the riparian restoration of an urban stream. Some of our
grantors include the Puget Sound Water Quality Action Team
(PSWQAT), the City of Tacoma, FishAmerica, and the National
Oceanographic and Aerospace Administration (NOAA). Using these
grants, we* have developed guidelines for getting disabled
individuals involved, including the hearing and sight impaired.
PCRS has many volunteers who participate on a regular basis. We
have a program established with the University of Puget Sound in
their OT/PT (Occupational Therapy/Physical Therapy) program
where students work with our disabled participants.
